Transportation Services

Seniors who use wheelchairs face many challenges, and traveling by car can be one of the most daunting. There are a few options for transport like cabs or specialized services that offer curbside or door-to-door options, and while they may have the equipment needed, they typically don’t have solutions for the most difficult parts of the journey – before and after vehicle entry. What’s more, most of these drivers aren’t sensitive to the needs of these seniors, nor trained to perform the extras needed to make the trip comfortable. That’s why we’ve combined our first-in-class caregiving services with custom, wheelchair-accessible vehicles to create our door-through-door transportation service.
Door-through-door transportation services are provided by experienced caregivers with impeccable driving records. They’ve been trained in wheelchair safety, and they utilize GPS navigation to get your loved one to their destination safely and on time.
Our specialized service also extends to the transport we use. Our vans are equipped with more than just a ramp – a kneeling system and automatic open/close doors are just a few of the features that make them a smoother, safer, and more comfortable ride. Each vehicle is inspected regularly and cleaned and sanitized between uses for the protection of our caregivers and clients.

What does door-through-door service include?

Door-though-door service means our caregivers can start the process inside the home, helping your loved one bathe, dress, and groom if necessary. They’ll assist with helping them out the door and getting them to the vehicle, where they will ensure all safety precautions are taken and their passenger is as comfortable as possible. During the ride, the caregiver will make stops as necessary for bathroom breaks, or to address any incontinence or other issues that may have occurred.
Upon arrival, the caregiver will assist your loved one as they exit the vehicle and enter their destination. They’ll make sure they have all their belongings, help them settle in, and make sure they are ready for their event or appointment. Should a return trip be required, the same process will be followed, and your parent will be returned safely to their home.

When is transportation available and what are the time/distance restrictions?

We offer our transportation services 24/7. There’s no minimum or maximum trip length required, and we may even be able to accommodate travel to neighboring states (subject to availability). Next or same-day rides may be possible depending on availability, but a minimum 72-hour advance notice is recommended and appreciated.

How much does it cost?

Rates will vary depending on the length of the trip and the location of the pick-up and drop-off. In addition to a pick-up/drop-off fee, our standard rate is $65.00 per hour plus .99 per mile.

What if i need to arrange transportation but a specialized van isn't necessary?

Car travel can be a taxing and sometimes even risky endeavor for any senior, even if they don’t need a specialized vehicle to get there. In that situation, a trained caregiver will provide transportation in their vehicle for the standard in-home care hourly rate plus a mileage premium. Your loved one will still receive the same care before, during, and after the ride. Check out our ongoing care page to learn more about rates for caregivers.
